Mission


The mission of the HHIC is to supply the hospitality, catering and the broader tourism industry with appropriately trained and specialized personnel. Simultaneously, it should strive to promote policies and initiatives for the upgrading of service quality and the achievement of sustainable development and management of human resources within the industry.



Towards this end, the Institute offers the following:

· Tertiary education for vocational specialization meeting the needs of the industry

      The Institute as a tertiary educational institution of vocational specialization at an intermediary level between Secondary Education and University, should cover the needs of the industry for personnel of specialties of the hospitality, catering and broader tourism industry who can immediately be employed in certain specialties, and advance up to the supervisory/ middle management level.

    · Continuing education and training to cover the needs of the industry

      Within the framework of its objective of lifelong learning as well as the need for upgrading the quality of the products and services of the industry offered, the Institute should offer programs in the sectors of its specialty for continuing education for both Cypriots and citizens of the European Union that should be trained suitably in order to meet the needs of the industry. Its role, as a tertiary educational institution of vocational specialization, will allow it to efficiently undertake the part of continuing education at the required levels of quality and professionalism.

    · Advisory services and studies at vocational level to meet the needs of the industry

      The HHIC, as a tertiary institution for vocational specialization, can offer advisory services and studies at vocational level both within the framework of governmental work, e.g. Models of Professional Qualifications (MPQ) and private enterprises which should upgrade the level of services offered, e.g. a study for upgrading and organising reception halls, restaurants, kitchens, etc.

    · Support the state in promoting policies and initiatives to upgrade the levels of quality of the services provided and uphold sustainable development as well as enhance management of human recourses of the industry.

      The HHIC should adequately support the state in order to reverse trends resulting in poor performance of human resources in the hospitality and wider tourism industry. As the educational institution that specialises in this industry and subsequently depends directly on its course, it should act towards resolving the perennial problems of the industry in the sector of human resources.
