NEEDS ANALYSIS REPORT FOR THE ‘EMPLOYER PROGRAMME FOR HOSPITALITY AND TOURISM’

At the beginning of 2017 the HHIC undertook a research analysing the needs of relevant stakeholders (hospitality and tourism businesses, tertiary level educational institutions, students, policy makers and opinion leaders). This research was conducted in order to identify the need for an up-to-date, modern, efficient and effective employer programme in the sector of hospitality and tourism, being part of the new funded project, ‘Employer Programme for Hospitality and Tourism’.

The research conducted indicates that there is a real scope for strategic partnership and systematic cooperation between the hospitality and tourism industry and tertiary-level educational institutions offering programmes for the industry.

The project was one of the two projects approved for Higher Education under the Basic Action 2 (Partnerships for Innovation and Good Practice Exchange) of the Erasmus + Program. The project has a two year duration (September 2016 – August 2018) with a budget of 242,617.00 euros, which is funded 100% by the European Union. As part of this project the HHIC is invited to coordinate 7 partners in 5 different countries (Cyprus, Greece, Italy, Finland and Spain).

The aim of the project is to develop and systematize the cooperation between hospitality / tourism businesses, tertiary educational institutions offering programmes of study in hospitality and tourism and their students. This will be achieved through a modern and efficient employer programme especially designed for hospitality and tourism. The implementation of the programme will be facilitated through an electronic platform which will be designed specifically for this purpose. The resulting benefits will be multiple for all those involved, hospitality / tourism enterprises, tertiary educational institutions offering programmes in hospitality and tourism and their students.
