Student Clubs & Societies
At the HHIC, we view participation in student clubs/societies, as a significant element in student personal and professional development and constitute social contribution to the society as community service.
Students are encouraged to be actively involved and active in student societies as well as other educational events and related activities. This ensures that they make constructive use of their time and talents, and learn to become active and engaged individuals, traits that are essential for their future professional development and career.
Currently the Institute offers the following societies:
1. Charity
2. Environmental
3. Artistic
4. Sport and Recreation
Extra-curricular activities aim at involving students in issues of interest to them, either related to their courses at the Institute or entirely independent of them. These extra-curricular activities run either within the societies or manifest themselves in other events. They occur at times that are not part of the daily schedule of the Institute and complement student life at the Institute, which constitutes an integral part of the overall student experience at a higher educational institution. These activities take place not only at the Institute but also at locations throughout the Island, depending on the type and purpose of each event.
It should be noted that the management of the Institute is always willing to support student initiatives with regard to these issues.
For every extra-curricular activity, including participation in clubs/societies, students are credited with extra-curricular points (ECPs), depending on its level of competency, and these points contribute to their achievement to the Hospitality and Leadership Programme.
As part of a student’s school life, a minimum number of 100 ECPs are required per each academic year with an achievement mark of 50%. However, in order to further the student’s educational process, it is suggested that the student exceeds the minimum number of activities required.
The degree of success and the number of ECPs earned by students in extra-curricular activities are recorded in their “Hospitality and Leadership Passport” and in their transcripts alike.
