Erasmus+

Student Mobility Erasmus+ Outgoing Students for Studies/Traineeship

HHIC students may spend a study and/or a traineeship period in another participating country in the framework of agreed arrangements between institutions and traineeship organizations. They receive a grant to help offset the mobility costs of studying in another country, such as travelling costs, language preparation and differences in the cost of living.

Full academic recognition for the study and traineeship period carried out abroad must be ensured in advance before attending the courses at the receiving institution, generally by the means of Academic credits using the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS).

HHIC students can participate in the Erasmus+ programme after successfully completing their first year of studies. They can study for a semester abroad or undertake their industrial training abroad.

Types and length of the exchange:
Studies: 5 months approximately
Traineeship (industrial placement): 2 to 12 months

The traineeship for graduates must take place within 12 months after the end of the study period of the graduate.

For the period spent abroad, the student will be fully credited towards the final diploma with the respective ECTS earned at the host institution / organization.

Participating in the Erasmus+ Programme includes the following benefits:

    • Acquiring a financial grant to cover the costs of living abroad
    • Gaining important experience to add to their CVs that will give them a competitive advantage when applying for a job
    • Boosting of interpersonal and language skills
    • Meeting new friends
    • Having lots of fun.

In order to qualify, the student has to fulfill the following criteria:
    • Have earned a minimum of 60 ECTS

Participation Process

Institutional call for applications:

The Erasmus+ Office organizes annually an informational event to raise the students’ awareness of the exchange possibilities, the application process, the necessary documentation and other relevant information.

Student Mobility Application:

The application procedure is very simple. All the students need to do is to furnish the Erasmus+ Office within the deadline set, a complete Application Form.

Deadlines:
Usually around the middle of February (the exact date will be provided in due time for each academic year).

For this purpose the students will be given the names of the institutions with which the HHIC has signed an Inter-institutional agreement. The students will also be made aware of the number of students that will be entitled to participate and the institutions that offer the relevant programme of studies.

Evaluation Criteria:
The Erasmus+ Office at the HHIC will gather the applications and set about the evaluation process which involves evaluation criteria set by the Erasmus+ Office.

The Erasmus+ Office will then announce a date when the written evaluation will take place and this will be succeeded by an interview.

If the student has been nominated he/she will be notified timely. In order to ensure transparency, the results and all the relevant documentation of the evaluation process will be available on the Erasmus+ section of the HHIC webpage.

Learning Agreement for studies / Learning Agreement for traineeship:

Learning Agreement for Studies:
An educational institution abroad will be chosen and courses will be selected that are compatible with the ones offered in the HHIC Programmes of Studies. This is important since the student has to receive the acquired ECTS credits completed abroad.

The Learning Agreement for studies is a document that indicates the precise courses that a student will be studying and it needs to be approved by the student, the sending and the receiving institutions. This guarantees that the sending Institution (HHIC) accepts formaly the particular Erasmus exchange as part of the studies.

Learning Agreement for Traineeship:

The Learning Agreement for traineeship sets out the training programme and activities to be followed as approved by the student, the sending institution and the receiving institution/organisation. This guarantees that the HHIC recognizes the outcomes of the traineeship. The Learning Agreement also includes the required information for the Traineeship Certificate that the receiving institution must issue within a maximum of 5 weeks after the successful completion of the traineeship.

The receiving organisation can be an enterprise of any size (small, medium or large) legally acting in any EU country.

Grant agreement signed by the student and the sending institution:

After the successful signing of the Learning Agreement by the student, the sending and the receiving institutions/organisations, students will be entitled an Erasmus+ EU grant/scholarship to help cover the travel and subsistence costs incurred in connection with the study/training period abroad. The amount of the grant depends on the country of the receiving institution.

Housing

Accommodation is the responsibility of the student and not that of the sending institution. The receiving institution usually helps students with relevant information.

Online Linguistic Support
Online language assessment is mandatory for each student before and after the mobility period.

Returning to the HHIC
Upon the student’s return he/she is responsible to furnish the Institute with the documents that are listed in the Grant Agreement (e.g. OLS Assessment, EU Survey).
