Erasmus+

General

The Higher Hotel Institute Cyprus (HHIC) has been awarded the new Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE) that will be in use throughout the Erasmus+ project (2014 -2020). The ECHE entitles the HHIC to apply for Erasmus funding for students mobility (studies and traineeships) and for academic and administrative staff mobility activities.

Erasmus+ is a European Union Programme which aims to modernize education, training and youth work across Europe by providing opportunities to students, trainees, staff and volunteers of all ages and backgrounds, to spend a period abroad to increase their personal development, skills and employability.

Key Actions is the collective name for activities and projects that can be funded under Erasmus+. The HHIC is interested in partnerships with selected higher education institutions to promote the reciprocal exchange of students, and academic staff as per Key Action 1 – Learning Mobility. The Institute believes that mobility contributes towards building up a knowledge-based society where awareness of cultural diversity and tradition is seen as an incentive, rather than an obstacle, resulting in improved innovation and international cooperation.

Key Action 1 supports mobility in education, training and youth sectors and aims to bring long lasting benefits to the participants and the organisations involved. This is all about providing opportunities for individuals to improve their skills, enhance their employability and gain cultural awareness.

Under Key Action 1, organisations can apply for funding to run mobility projects enabling them to offer structured study, work experience, job shadowing, training and teaching opportunities to its staff and learners.
Beneficiaries are able to spend a period of time in another participating country gaining valuable experience of living, studying and working abroad, with the aim of increasing the career opportunities available to them in the future.

Erasmus+ Cyprus is managed at decentralized level by National Agencies. In Cyprus the National Agency is “the Foundation for the Management of European Lifelong Learning Programmes” which was established in 2007.
